St. Marks’ Steeds – Venice

Four bronze statues of the Constantinople racing steeds dominate St. Mark’s piazza in Venice. Immense and proud, these same horses were immortalised by Napoleon in Paris in the massive sculpture on the Arc de Triomphe in Place du Carrousel.

This bookmark, made in 925/1000 silver, measures 200 x 47 mm (~7.9“ x 1.85“) and weights about 52 g (~1.83 oz). Since these objects are handmade, slight differences will occur from one piece to the next. Cut and engraved entirely by hand, finished with gold plating and chemical browning.
