Alice and the Cat

Alice stopped in the forest, more confused than ever. She had just asked for directions from a smoking caterpillar, and now a cat with an oversized grin was staring at her from a tree branch.
“Excuse me, can you tell me where to go?” Alice asked. “That depends on where you want to end up,” the cat replied, grinning even wider.
“I’d like to go somewhere sensible!” she exclaimed. “What a pity,” the cat yawned. “There’s very little sense around here.”
Alice sighed. “Are you at least real?” The cat began to vanish, leaving only its grin floating in the air. “As real as you are,” it replied with a chuckle.
Alice crossed her arms. “I’m starting to think no one here is very helpful!” The grin stretched even further (if that was even possible). “Oh, but I am! I made you smile, didn’t I?
Alice huffed but couldn’t help but grin. “Maybe a little.”
And so, she continued her journey, wondering if she, too, was going a little mad. But, as the cat would have said, that was a whole different story!
