William Morris believed people should be surrounded by beauty, later inspiring the Arts and Crafts Movement of the 1870s. In England, this artistic movement revolutionized the Victorian taste with decorative techniques and designs, often having nature as the main source of inspiration, for example in his ‘Acanthus’ pattern. The artist combined simplicity, beauty and utility as the main values of craftsmanship.
